Dr. Nagle is extremely responsive and very patient. I appreciate the extra time he takes to communicate with me about my kitty's condition & treatment -- he's been so helpful and kind during a very difficult and confusing time.

I find LAV vets knowledgeable and reasonably priced. I changed to a vet more local to me for convenience, but came back to Lincoln because of their pricing and professionalism. They worked wonderfully with my dog that has severe anxiety.

Compared to other vets, I feel like the doctors speak and treat us like friends/family. We can call in for questions and they get back to us ASAP. Also, their prices are great compared to other vets.

When I arrive for my appointment there is a very short wait. The staff is so sweet and kind. They always ask if I have any concerns or questions. When they pick him up there are so gentle with him. I know he is in good hands.

I always receive the best service from Lincoln Avenue Vets! They're the greatest! My most recent visit was to Jay, the Groomer; Jay is sooo awesome, and always does a superb job with my Golden Retriever, Kona. He's a perfectionist, and it shows!

All my pets go to Lincoln Avenue Vet Clinic, well what a wonderful surprise. Jay Hurtado, is the groomer there. He did the best grooming on my dog EVER!!! My dog is a handful, but Jay was able to do the best short haircut, nail trim. He was able to get my dog to be calm and relaxed. He was like a dog whisper. He definitely has my business from now on.

My dog is alive today because of this hospital and her primary care doctor was here for the first 4-5 years of her life.
My dog is 10 years old today. it was 8 years ago to this date that she was in ICU at this hospital. Blue buffalo almost killed my dog. They kept her stabilized and it took a really long time but 10k later my dog is here today. Money cannot put a price on our beloved family member who weighs 6 pounds and has 4 tiny legs. They came through also when she got stung by a bee and her paw swelled up to a giant cookie size. they took great care of her always. I moved to the south side which is why I have not been there in over 7 years or so. Not intentionally but it is more convenient to go somewhere more local to me since I have moved.
Wish I lived closer to Lincoln avenue clinic. They were also so respectful to me and treated me like a human being, not a money dispenser like most places and most veterinarians treat me these days.

Compassionate care until my fur baby's passing. They helped give me an extra year of life of an already full and long life. When we were out of town, the vets there tried to push me to put him down - but I knew it wasn't time- my fur baby said he wasn't ready and neither was I. I did have an advocate with me to push for end of life care comfort with meds, diet and treatments, but because they obliged, my fur baby was able to live another year plus with his family and spend his last two weeks pretty much in my arms until his last natural breath, pain free. It was a magical passing full of love in surroundings he knew. With the whole family. For this I am eternally grateful. Now my other fur children are still in their care and the attention and professionalism still extended with them. I am grateful they are here.

Our Cat Nubbin has to be put down a few days ago. Her Renal failure had progressed and it was time to give her a peaceful end. She had been treated by Dr. Nagel up to our final visit. He was very kind and caring, and while there was a lot of tears from my sister and I, we appreciated the care and gentle manner that made the process a little less stressful for us. As much as is possible when you're losing that loving member of your family. A couple days later we received sympathy flowers to our home. Similarly, they had sent us a sympathy card signed by the staff when our previous Cat passed away. It's a level of personal care that we don't take lightly. Thank you Dr. Nagel and everyone at the clinic for caring about our baby, Nubbin. My sister and I will continue to offer a loving home to animals in need, and we will continue to bring them here for quality care. - Theresa & Melissa Werle

This is a great vet clinic. Been bringing my dog here since she was a puppy. Dr. Bowden is awesome, with decades of experience, and really knows how to handle a big dog.

The team at Lincoln Ave have done a wonderful, diligent and considerate job of caring for our 2 cats over the last three years. From check-ups and vaccines to the hardest of goodbyes, they have been compassionate, professional and understanding throughout and I cannot recommend them highly enough.

Lincoln Avenue Vet is a wonderful vet clinic. We've been taking our four cats and dog there for almost a decade, and we are so grateful for the help we've received. We usually see Dr. Nagel and couldn't be happier with all the care he's given our little band of animals over the years. We have some very difficult personalities--an ancient grouchy kitty with one tooth who gets two medications a day, a moody Siamese, two cats who frequently get into scrapes, and a stubborn sheepdog with behavior issues (to put it mildly)--and Dr. Nagel is consistently thoughtful and patient with every animal. He's helped us diagnose some unique issues and is very quick to reply to my questions. The front office staff is also courteous and attentive. Rates are fair. Thanks, LAVC!

They have taken care of my pets for over 10 years. Mostly cats. Their front desk staff are well trained, knowledgeable and friendly. The vet care is top, best I have experienced in my 40+ years of owning dogs and cats. They have kindly helped through last stage and are so helpful both in sucessfully solving some tough health issues, and in keeping unnecessary costs down. This is an excellent vet clinic.

I've been going here a little over a year. Dr. Nagel is great with my cat Nubs and they were very professional and kind hearted when we had to make the difficult decisions to put down our elderly cat last year. They offer great services and their prices are competitive.

For the most part everyone is very friendly and know my name and names of my dog and cat. Since I am older some times certain staff help me bring in my cat crate as it is difficult for me to manage it. That is very much appreciated.

I've been bringing my animals here since the mid 90's, they take great care of my buddy Ollie, who actually enjoys going there (he runs to the door to get in then is greeted warmly by the staff). Pricing is fair, the docs are upfront, honest, and take a genuine interest in your animal. The grooming here is excellent as well, thanks to Jay!

We recently moved to the area. I'm in my fourth decade of being a dog owner. I am delighted to recommend Dr. Kang. I appreciate her thorough care for my aging dog as we deal with allergies in her senior years. I've been to a lot of vets in my lifetime and it's refreshing to meet a vet who still takes a personal interest in her patients. Highly recommend!

I'm sure there are plenty of other positive reviews about Juan Hurtardo better known as Jay, the groomer at Lincoln Ave Veterinary Clinic, so I'll keep this short. He is simply the best groomer who has ever trimmed my Aussie, Bailey! He's an artist!

Dr. Nagle, Dr. Bowden and the entire staff are absolutely wonderful. My Sophie passed away peacefully on my lap Oct 16th in the care of Dr. Nagle, She had been well taken care of at this clinic for over 16 years. My three year old, Olive is in good hands as she continues to be a patient of theirs.

I just lost my beloved dog of 16.5 years. She had been a patient of Dr. Nagle and Dr. Bowden her whole life. They couldn't have taken better care of her. At the end, Dr. Nagle was great, he didn't rush me even though it was 5:30 and certainly near the end of his day. We shared reminiscences of my Sophie's life and holding her in my lap he couldn't have been more gentle as he gave her the injections. I have a 3 year old bichon mix and she will always be a patient of this clinic. The whole staff has always been so friendly and supportive .

This is a very late review, but last year in the summer, my dog got a foxtail embedded in his nostril and Lincoln Avenue Vet Clinic was very fast and helpful in diagnosing the problem. Dr. Kang was wonderfully helpful, and super informative and was very kind to inform me along the whole process because my dog had to be sedated to pull the little sucker out. My dog was sneezing uncontrollably and sneezing out blood, but after his visit to the vet, he's as good as new!

This review is for Jay (Juan Hurtado), the master of all groomers! I have been reading through all the reviews that mention Jay, and I am trying to find something to say about him, that has not been mentioned yet, but it is difficult! About 4 years ago, due to a near fatal car accident, I moved to San Jose, after living in San Francisco for 36 years. Everything was new to me. I had no idea what to do about getting my dog groomed. I tried a couple of different groomers who come to your house. I had a terrible experience with one, and the other one was so unbelievably expensive. I kept searching and found so many groomers whose prices were way more than I could afford, with attitudes to match!

Then, a friend of mine took me and my dog Leo to her groomer, where we had both of our dogs groomed. That was where I met Jay. I liked him immediately. His calm, reassuring manner really put me at ease. He patiently listened to all my tales of woe! After asking me what I wanted done for Leo, he said to me, "Well, let me see what I can do for Leo, and you." My friend and I came back later and picked up our dogs. Leo looked great, and I could tell that Jay had gone beyond my expectations. When it came time to pay, I could not believe how reasonable the charge was.

Since then, I have followed Jay when he moved to a different clinic, and I would follow him if he went to Daly City! Seriously, his work is flawless and his manner is so easy going. I lost my Leo in January, 2016. My newest best friend Babs, is always nervous and starts shaking when we go to LAVC. But, once she is taken in the back, she just melts in Jay's hands!

I can not say enough about Jay. I highly, highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for an excellent groomer. You will not be disappointed!

Lincoln Avenue is the best and has been for decades. I used to be a volunteer USAR canine handler and was referred through another handler to Lincoln Ave. There is no substitute.

Today was our very first visit. When we got to the front desk ladies were very nice and patient with us. They had great customer service. Dr. Penelope Bowden was very informative of what our dog, Nala needed for her tooth pain. I would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for an veterinarian clinic. My dog is usually hard headed, mean, and sometimes difficult to work with to others but when we got her into the room as the two girls and Dr. Penelope Bowden held her, she was well behaved with them. Even when they took her blood test she was well behaved also. Thank you ladies for your great care you provided for Nala.

I am a strong believer in holistic care and they work with me without the guilt that most veterinarians gave me in the past. Even though Lincoln Veterinary is a just a bit pricier than other low-end vet clinics, their service to my new puppy dog and my prior dog, who passed last year, has been exceptional. My vet of choice is Dr. Kevin Nagel, who makes a point of providing deep information and smart recommendations at every visit. The reception staff is attentive and gets you in and out on time, every time. Highly recommend!

The vets and nurses here are always excellent. Reception can get quite busy so you do sometimes have to wait but the staff are always helpful and friendly.

Jay, the groomer, is gentle, kind and is a skilled groomer. He listens carefully to any/all concerns I have. One of our dogs is 15 years old, a tad bit less hardy than he used to be and Jay takes excellent care of him.

Dr. Bowden has cared for all of our pets over many years, through good times, emergencies and sad times. She explains well, understands our concerns and balances this with the pets' needs.

My parents started coming to this clinic for our pets in the late 1960's. Dr Kay and Dr Apple ran the clinic back then. I have been out of the area for the last 35 years and recently returned and reconnected with this clinic. Today, Dr Bowden, of the Lincoln Ave Vet came to the home of my Auntie to get a urine sample and to help us obtain pain medications for my Aunties dog, Lucy. She has discospondilitis and is experiencing tremendous pain. Dr Bowden is like the old time family doc or vet. She cares so deeply for her patients and their families. Dr Bowden has only ever treated one other dog with this disease and has spent considerable time researching all of our options. And getting us connected with UC, Davis small animal hospital and it's students and faculty for an expert consultation. It is this level of care and experience you get at the Lincoln Ave Vet clinic. The entire staff is warm and friendly. If you need a family vet, look no further. Dr Bowden and Vet Tech, Emily, rocked the old time house call today. It was remarkable and made a huge difference in Lucy's comfort. Thank you!

Lincoln Ave Vet is truly a wonderful place to take care of your pets! They have been so helpful in providing advice and care with my first dog/puppy Theo. Seriously love these Vets. Huge hearts, great communicators, honest and fair. I truly trust them and they calm my worries and offer honest solutions. Front desk is efficient and friendly and clean.

I have been taking my 3 labs to lincoln ave vet clinic for many years. Cole (my black lab) is a regular as he is plagued with allergies. Haley my yellow lab has gone thru treatment for throat cancer. They love our dogs at Lincoln and I can truly say our pets aren't afraid when they have a visit. The docs are knowledgeable in the latest treatments and always make great recommendations. If a specialist is needed they know who to send you to and don't hesitate to do so. They just want whats best for my beloved pets (kids). I would recommend taking your pets her absolutely!

I was referred to this clinic by a friend, and was pleasantly surprised to encounter a very gentle vet to take my barely 3 lbs pup to. I was sent home with a welcome home puppy package to teach me more about precautions with my puppy. I could tell EV, Dr. Bowden and the rest of the staff really had my pup in their best interest. See you guys in March!

Dr. Nagel gave my female cat Gregg amazing care. We knew something in her mouth had been bothering her because she was dropping her food occasionally, even though she didn't exhibit signs of pain or bad breath. I took her in for a tooth cleaning and on the initial exam (yes, it is common practice to have an initial exam before a surgery) Dr. Nagel noticed a resorptive lesion on her canine.

The tooth needed to come out, and this was verified by a second vet friend via a picture. Dr. Nagel quoted me accurately and when the procedure had started, he called me up and informed me he had found 2 other resorptive lesions on the back of another fang and a molar. He removed these together, and the cost of the tooth cleaning and surgery ended up being reasonable.

I'm glad my cat had such professional care. The surgery was quick and painless and she's almost back to normal just a couple hours after. Thanks Dr Nagel! Found my vet in San Jose

This review is for Juan Hurtado (aka Jay) the groomer. Groomer does not do him justice! Juan is not only the best dog stylist (meaning he doesn't just shave dogs naked) he truly cares for all of his clients. To find a groomer with his talent and heart is priceless. Rocco (my maltipoo) and I are proud and lucky to be able to say we are among his very first clients.

I meet Juan when Rocco attended puppy day camp 10 years ago and he listen to me complain endlessly about all of the hack jobs Rocco got every time he was groomed. It was so bad I was trimming him myself (yes, he looked like a hot mess). I didn't know at the time Juan was training to be a groomer. One day Juan told me he was now a groomer and asked if he could clean Rocco up. I laughed and asked if he was crazy knowing how picking I was. He replied, he was sure he could do better than I was doing.

Well, that was that. Juan was magic and Juan does an amazing job on Rocco to this day. We have followed Juan to several different location and will continue too.

I also want to add that Juan still smiles at my neurotic requests and even picked Rocco up and ran him to a vet when he had a medical emergency during an appointment. (Rocco is blind and insulin dependent). Did I mention Juan is an angel??

We recently and sadly put down our long time pup of 13.5 years. She had long and happy life. Her quality of life was waning ... it was her time.
LAVC handled the experience with tender loving care.
The Staff at LAVC is top notch, front office and medical staff. We have seen them all in the 30 years we've been bringing our pets there. Always caring, professional and communicative.
We had a sweet surprise Saturday when flowers were delivered to our home from the LAVC STAFF expressing their deepest sympathy for the loss of our sweet MacKenzie.

I am very impressed with the wonderful attention my cat receives when I take her in. Dr. Nagel is very good at making owner and pet very comfortable in the exam room. He answers the questions and concerns and my cat is very calm with him. I left knowing what to watch for, when I should bring her in again and not one concern that he hadn't addressed. The staff is very good at providing all the information needed for paperwork, insurance info, etc. The facility is clean and has great pictures of pets everywhere. Parking is convenient. Everyone there works as a team and really do make a difficult task much easier. There is a warmth of care when walking into the clinic.

I love Jay! The BEST groomer ever! My babies love him. I have two fur babies. My pit/ terrier mix gets super nervous and is quite a handful when he comes to grooming (as he doesn't require constant grooming & didn't get groomed most his life). Despite his behavior not being the best, Jay manages to be gentle with him and patient. It takes a lot I mean ALOT Of patience to be a groomer and Jay has exactly that, patience and a genuine love for dogs! My other fur baby, a full breed Shih Ztu, needs constant grooming. When I first took him to Jay he was very stand offish, would nibble and bite and was quite a brat. But after a few grooming appointments, my baby doesn't mind the blow dryer, doesn't bite doesn't nibble yet he showers Jay with kisses. He is a breeze to groom. Stays still and let's Jay do his thang ( Jay gives me a progress report upon my request in regards to my babies behavior, and I appreciate his honesty, I don't take any offense to it when he is being honest; my dogs behavior could be different with a groomer than with me). I also like the fact that he takes his time and gives my boys breaks in between their grooming. I mean a dog can only tolerate so much until they had it with the brushing, trimming, blow drying, etc. I know my babies are not being forced or rushed which makes their experience easier on them. It never fails that every time they come home from grooming they are tired and sleepy. It's like they just walked out of the spa and are ready to simply call it a day and lay in bed. Grooming is a tiring experience in general so there's no need to add to it. Because my Shih Tzu needs constant grooming, having a groomer who I trust is very important. I must also say I LOVE the open window. You can see straight into the grooming room, it reassures me there is nothing to hide. You can see all the pets getting groomed and bathed! And you can see Jay working away! I won't lie but from time to time I'll take a peek in on my babies. I LOVE YOU JAY! Thank you for taking care of my stinky boys! Because of you they are no longer stinky!

If I could give Jay 10 stars I would! I have been bringing my dogs to Jay for over 10 years! He is the most compassionate groomer I have ever met. He has always taken great care of my dogs and I am a picky pet owner. I have never had an issue and my dog goes to see him every 3 weeks like clock work! I can not recommend him enough. He takes the best care of my pets and I just got a new puppy and can't wait to bring Jaxx in to see Jay so we can start our every three week grooming! Jay is extremely knowledgeable about all breeds and has made suggestions for my pets and he is always spot on! I have referred friends to Jay and they love him also! My dog always looks amazing and you can tell he is treated properly by Jay. Chance would not go with people but he was always sooo happy to see Jay. As you can see I cant say enough positive things about Jay and his ability to take care of my dog. He loves each and every dog that comes in to his business! Jay....thanks for being sooo AMAZING!!

Jay the groomer is quite possibly the BEST groomer around. His life is dogs. He has taken such amazing care of all of my dogs. He's gentle, he's loving, & sensitive to all breeds, sizes, & ages. He grooms my senior dog & my little lady girl. My animals LOVE him. When I pick them up, they are so happy & strut around like, they know they've just been beautified. The one star review for Jay below is not consistent with the care he's provided for my animas for 6 years. You can see by the rest of the reviews, he's highly recommended. I highly recommend his services as well as the services from the veterinary office he works at. He's the best of the best & your dog will always be in good, loving, gentle hands when you take them to Jay.

We took our dog here after a series of terrible experiences with Banfield. Dr Nagel was thorough and caring, but also honest. He squeezed us in for surgery but took every precaution and care and called us when there was going to be an extra procedure despite the fact that I'd signed to say I would pay for anything necessary for him. Ace hates vets, but he seems really relaxed with Dr Nagel which is what I care about the most. I highly recommend Dr Nagel as someone one who loves our fur babies and just wants to do the right thing by them. What more could you ask for!???!!! Ps. I've never been to this veterinary clinic before- I chose it because they opened at 7 and let me come in with no appointment because my 3yr old cat was not doing well this morning. The staff gave me honest options and comforted me when I had to make my decision. Thank you for being so kind when I had to say good bye to him. Very Kind and Compassionate Staff! We recently had to put down our 12 year old fur baby mostly unexpectedly. We were able to get a same day appointment after a description of her symptoms. I was expecting a regular appointment and probably antibiotics (hind site my own denile) but the test results concluded a poor prognosis that would become aggressively worse in a short amount of time. So unexpectedly we said good bye to our girl, giving her a restful peace in dignity.

The staff was amazing, Dr Gesik (spelling) was very compassionate to our situation, provided us with options, space to figure it out, and time to say goodbye. There was no pressure or focus on payment, only our pet.

Very appreciate of the services we experience and will continue to use and recommend this facility!

I love Lincoln Avenue Vet's, They are the best! I don't know what we would have done without their care, patience, expertise, when our animals were ill. They are thorough and reasonably priced. WE have never had a problem with getting an appointment in a timely fashion. They are the best! The new groomer, Juan Hurtado, is fantastic! He is a true artist, very knowlegable. He listens to your needs and aims to please. Simply the best groomer we have had the pleasure of meeting.

Our baby had his annual check up yesterday and I realized in all the years we've been coming to Lincoln Ave. Veterinary Clinic I've never written a review. Yesterday, our baby was actually HAPPY when we walked in the door! Going is never fun for him but he was playing and happy as we sat waiting for Doctor Nagel. Could have been the friendly greeting we received walking in. : ) Kudos to the office staff, it's a noticeable difference! In the 7 1/2 years they've been our baby's doctor's we've probably seen everyone there but we absolutely LOVE Dr. Nagel. He has such a wonderful, kind and caring manner with our baby and us. The exam was thorough and left us feeling so good about his health. We had a small concern about a lump and it was a quick and painless procedure to withdraw the fluid to check it. AMAZING! I thought for sure I was gonna cry but he was done before our baby even knew what he was doing. One of the best things I like about Lincoln Ave. Vet is their patience and understanding with my severe separation anxiety. We've raised this baby from a day old when his mother died giving birth so we're extremely close. They have on numerous occasions accommodated me beyond expectation. This boy is my baby and I get a little crazy! They've always been wonderful and allowed me to stay with him as long as possible, even when he was neutered as a puppy. Yes, I know, I have issues! : ) Thanks Dr. Nagel and all of you that have seen Kuma and taken care of him for all these years.

They are absolutely kind and amazing in every way. If my fur baby has issues of any sort, I can call and they will get us in that day.
They take time to explain what they will be doing, that is a plus in my book!
They include your fur baby while talking to you even if it means coming to the floor at their level if your fur baby don't like the cold table.
I know Rico had issues from being allergic to bee stings to "anal" issues to a simple rash, he will be 6 years old so believe you me, he knows all the wonderful Lincoln Vets. Rico has seeing them all.

So lucky to have this place nearby. Our new puppy got into a poisonous substance and they invited us over despite being close to closing. Saved me a lot of money not having to go to emergency. The dogs were handled very well and treated quickly.

Visiting the vet is never a positive experience to my dog 🙂
But the staff are as as friendly to my dog as it gets, and it does help with the experience.

The doctors and the entire staff at Lincoln Avenue Veterinary Clinic have provided great care to my dog and cat over the last 4 years. I am so grateful for the supportive and caring way that Dr. Nagel and the rest of the staff helped my 16 year old kitty at the end of his life. It was very emotional for me to put him down, but they arranged for it to be done in a private and caring way while supporting me in my grief. I was so touched to get a sympathy card a few weeks later with handwritten notes from every member of the staff. Thank you so much Dr. Nagel and team.

I started at Lincoln Ave Veterinary clinic with Faye Umeda and the business has kept it's high standards under Paul Umeda. From the beginning this clinic has been top notch and has given my feline pride the BEST of care. You couldn't ask for a more caring and dedicated staff ! I wouldn't take my pets anywhere else. I would trust any of the doctors and I don't know anyone who does a diagnosis better than D. Bowden!

Our dog is pretty good about the vet - a little nervous - but she took to Dr. Seymour immediately. It didn't take treats to win her over, either. Dr. Seymour has an excellent rapport with animals. She spent most of the time at the level of our dog on the ground so as not to freak the dog out with the table (although there's certainly a time when the dog needs to be on the table, but this was not one of them). We liked that she listened to us and gave us options regarding routine treatments for fleas, heartworm, etc. She is knowledgeable and friendly (both to humans and canines). We recommend her highly.

My wife and I have taken all of our pets here and have always had great experiences. They are friendly and accommodating. Our pug, Pugitta was her name, was going to be 15 in January. She was having problems breathing and my wife took here in yesterday and we found out that she had a tumor in her liver. She was completely deaf and could barely see anymore. We made the difficult decision to have her put to rest. We took her in today and they were so nice and showed compassion. Dr. Nagel was wonderful. He came in and explained the whole process and made us feel comfortable with the process. It is not easy to do. We know that our little Pugitta will no longer be suffering and is a rest thanks to a wonderful staff!

Had a really great experience with Dr Seymour with our elderly Husky as we first moved to town and she had an AWFUL bladder/UTI infection. The staff has been kind, seem fair priced, and offered solutions for less expensive seizure meds should we desire to look into saving money there (something no vet has told us about in the 3 years she has had to take these meds). We love that our two time rescue dog is not scared walking in, and that they are an easy walking distance from the apartments where we currently reside. We have and will continue to return
here for our veterinary needs.

Dr. Seymour is great! My dog really really hates going to the vet, she took her time and let Chip get comfortable with her. I highly recommend this clinic as the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Keep up the great work!

Today we took our dog in Cosmo for a check up, bordello and rabies vaccine. He has been with this vet since he was 13 weeks and he's almost 14 years old. We love this vet and all the Dr's that have treated Cosmo. Thank you to all the staff and Dr's for all you have done for us and our family.

We have been taking our pets here for 12 years and have had nothing but good experiences. The front desk girls are so sweet and friendly and extremely knowledgeable. The doctors are kind gentle honest and always have nothing but the animals best intentions in mind. By far the best vet we've ever been to.

I had to bring my parents dog in today to the Lincoln Ave. Vet. Clinic because their dog had not been feeling well. My parents dog, Lucky, was 16 years old and not in good health, so I knew what the outcome was going to be. However, it is always extremely difficult to make the decision to put an animal to sleep. Lucky was a very loved, cared for dog, and my parents best friend. I've had to bring Lucky to this clinic on a few occasions because my parents are elderly and no longer drive. Each time I took Lucky in my doctor was Kevin Nagel. Dr. Nagel always treated Lucky with extreme care and gentleness. You can tell that he really cares for and feels for the pets he treats.
It was very difficult for me today to have to tell my parents that their beloved dog had to be put to sleep, but that I felt very comfortable with my decision, because his doctor assured me that I was doing the right thing. Dr. Nagel was very sincere with his feeling and treated me and their dog with absolute professionalism. I highly recommend Dr. Kevin Nagel who is a veterinarian at Lincoln Avenue Veterinary Clinic.

This vet is fabulous! The staff is great and perfectly diagnosed my elderly cat giving him years back on his life. Additionally, they are never pushy about doing more than is necessary. They are cost conscious and extremely efficient. I was never there for longer than 45 minutes. I will say that aesthetics of the building could be improved a bit, but the care is great!

Since my last review was over 2 years ago and so much has happened in our pet world in that time I'm writing another. 2 Cardigan Corgis and a very sick cat later I still give 5 stars for LAVC. Our cat Reilly was extremely ill, the same illness that our other cat died from 3 years go, and LAVC absolutely saved Reilly's life. Reilly had surgery and needed special feeding several times a day which was close to impossible for my husband and I to do because of work. LAVC to the rescue - I dropped Reilly off every morning so they could feed and monitor her, then I would pick her up on the way home. Yes there was a small fee but it was absolutely worth it knowing that Reilly was being cared for and for the peace of mind while at work. All three doctors are wonderful, Bowden, McKinley and Nagel, Most of our appts have been with McKinley or Nagel - and I always receive follow up calls from both, not just a rushed call with lab results but real conversations and concern about our pets. I've thought about changing to a holistic vet that was recommended to me but I really can't ever imagine leaving LAVC. I trust them completely - from the office staff to the techs to the docs and that is an awesome feeling. Corgs Addie and George and cats Reilly and Molly will be patients of LAVC for a very long time.

I have been a customer of LAVC for over 17 years. I rescue older cats so they have seen me and my various cats quite often. The office staff is great- they fit me in when I have an emergency and always remember my name and my cats names. The vets have been wonderful and do not recommend the most expensive treatment but a treatment that is warranted by the cat's condition and age. I have had a few of my guys put to sleep there, and the entire staff is compassionate and caring in this situation. I highly recommend LAVC.

My wife and I have been going to Lincoln Avenue Vet Clinic for 20 years. We have had several series of beloved companions cared for by their staff. We now have 2 new canine companions and the clinic has provided quality, professional service for Oreo and Tawny as they've done for all our animals for 20 years. It's nice to have a place like this to go to where the staff is always friendly and they seem to love our animals as much as we do.

I feel bad that some people feel they have to use Yelp for a wonderful place like this to vent their anger. Reading through the comments - most 5 stars, I have a hard time understanding the negative ones. Remember, my wife and I have been taking our animals to LAVC for 20 years - we've never had a less than wonderful experience.

We were looking for a local vet after we relocated to Willow Glen, and based on Yelp reviews decided on Lincoln Avenue Veterinary. After a few visits for routine care, their true mettle was tested when we called around lunchtime one day after discovering one of our dogs had gotten into some nasty trash that could have resulted in an intestinal obstruction. The tech who answered the phone was unfazed and professional, and asked us to bring our dog in immediately. They took care of the issue quickly and successfully, fitting us in to their schedule with NO notice. They were polite and understanding. I'm happy we ended up at this friendly, neighborhood business for our veterinary needs.

I took my German Shepherd Suki to an appointment today as usual they were great, The nurses and doctor's and the staff are all so kind I highly recommend this clinic.

Affordable, friendly, timely service. I called them up, they had an appointment available within the hour, I ducked out of work and brought my cat straight to them. They were really good with her, they know their stuff, and they sell all the medication you might need on site. They also have cats available for adoption if you're interested.

Have been wanting a new vet for a long time --- like for 12 years, but it took about 11 years for my hubby to come around. I had thought to look for a vet PRIOR to NEEDING one, but I did some research and then never followed through. And then of course, when I NEEDED a vet, I didn't have one.

I looked on Yelp and was having a difficult time deciding between this one and another one. The other one has reviews from FRIENDS so I was leaning towards that one. But this one has a digital x-ray and what that means is they can often just take ONE and zoom in and contrast it without having to subject the pet to multiple x-rays. Now let me tell you, my cat has never had an x-ray before, but I thought . . . . "Well, just in case, that is a good thing. I think."

Also this place is close to where I have my Nia classes so I thought that would be convenient. I stopped by on my way home from teaching and I told them I was looking for a new vet and I thought my cat had a UTI. I told them what was happening and asked for an appointment. They had an appointment opening in about 90 minutes. They asked for her previous vet. I was so happy because I thought I would have to get her records and she had had a lot of blood work done earlier in the year I didn't want to have her (and me) go through that again.

I went home and got the cat (no easy feat!). When I got back to the office THEY ALREADY HAD HER RECORDS. Granted that says something about the last vet too, that was nice of them to get them over so quickly.

Anyway . . . . the doctor came in and talked to me and . . . . then he did something that made me realize one of the reasons why I wanted a different vet, he talked to the cat. My other vet had never done that in a "hello, kitty" kind of way. It was usually just a "hush now, cat" kind of way. This Doctor actually spoke to the cat.

He also listened to me and my explanation of the situation. He examined the cat and determined that her bladder was too small to retrieve a sample. He suggested to give her an anitbiotic. He also said it was a shot not something I would have to administer. Pet owners, you probably know when your pet is not feeling well, even if they will normally take meds it is difficult. No one likes to be forced to swallow something when they are not feeling well. So . . . . 1) has my cat's records 2) doesn't want to "torture" her with a urine draw 3) doesn't want to "torture" her with meds ---- I was already loving this place.

The antibiotic didn't seem to be working days later. So I e-mailed them. Not the fastest turn around with that form of communication. I would recommend calling them. But they did get back to me evntually and the advice was to bring her in. My cat is an indoor cat. She does not like car travel or going to the vet so I try to keep it to a minimum and I don't remember what I said, but it caused the tech to put me on hold. I thought she was just taking another call. But when she came back she said, she talked to the doctor and they came up with Lab Litter. The idea is to get the cat to urinate in this litter and then pour the urine off and take it in for testing. YAY! Something to do (in a progressive manner) that would keep the cat out of the vet.

Well as great of an idea as that was, it didn't work because she wasn't going enough. And . . . . EEK . . . it was bloody! So --- these poor people at this office, probably tired of hearing from me . . . squeezed me into their schedule when I called up frantically saying, my cat is peeing blood all over the house! She was using my bathroom sink and bathtub. She was obviously in distress and letting me know. So forget trying to keep her out of the vets. But still her bladder was too small to get a sample . . . but they did take and x-ray (AH-HA!). He didn't see anything in there blocking things. So . . . . argh! No clear diagonosis, but he prescribed some bladder healthy food. Which I had JUST got her off that grain filled sfuff. Anyway . . . . two litter boxes later (I put one downstairs for her to use so she would stop using the tub) and a day or so . . . she is fine. Argh! Pets. These issues like this get me scared and trying to figure out what is wrong is stressful.

A few days later, the Doctor called to check on her -- at 6:00 pm (I mention this because I assume it was after hours and I felt he was so kind checking up after a long day). Which I was so surprised by I didn't think to say, "Doctor, I've called your office a bunch of times, do you think I wouldn't be calling you still if she was still urinating blood!" I didn't think to say that because I appreciated him calling to check.

Then, I got a Welcome/Thank you card. It is the little things that are big things to me. For those of you that have pets you know how important it is for the person helping you with your pets health to be caring. Well, I think I found that caring at this vet.

So great! Our dog had a complicated and odd surgery elsewhere and she had some complications so we came to this vet when we moved to the area. He efficiently looked her over, suggested some possibilities that were not exorbitantly expensive and called later to follow up on the results and her response to meds. It's not a fancy place, but the vet seemed thorough and trustworthy.

I took my dog in around 7:15am without an appointment because he was acting funny from the night before. He has a bump on his stomach which has grown over the past few months, and I thought that might be the issue. The lady at the front desk said the next available appointment was at 9:00am, and if I wanted to be seen sooner that it would be an extra $20 charge. Since I was already there, I agreed. But then she said there actually was an 8:00am. Score!

My dog was seen promptly at 8:00am by Dr. Bowden. She was very nice and explained things without pressuring me to get services I didn't need. All the other vets I've been to try to get you to get x-rays and blood work done making it seem like your pet will die if you don't. She prescribed him some pain meds and sent him on his way. I left feeling relieved and without breaking the bank. Rocky the dog is back to being normal and happy. I will definitely be going back here for all my veterinary needs.

I've been bringing my pooch here for over 2 years and have always had a great experience. Now my baby dog has a serious condition and he sees Dr. Maryssa and she is fantastic. The staff at Lincoln Ave. have been very understanding, will see him ASAP when needed, and take really good care of him. As long as I'm in the area I'll bring my creatures here.

I'll preface by saying I never used Lincoln Ave Vet. But my experience calling them for a tick issue with my dog was GREAT. I was planning on visiting them , but no vacancies were available on the day I wanted(My usual VET also had no vacancies, was SAT), so they advised me over the phone on what can be done with the Tick in my pups ear (it was the head only -- I broke off the body) They offered for very reduced cost to have one of their technicians try and pull it out, but suggested I wait 48 hours to see if it falls out first.. It DID. Saved me money and time.

Not even being a patient of theirs, very impressed.

We have been clients for 5-6 years with both our dogs and cats. This review is long overdue. The office staff, tech's and doctors are wonderful, caring, professional and especially patient with our questions and concerns. This last visit for our kitty Molly with Dr. Nagel was case in point. Dr. Nagel was gentle, comprehensive and happen to suggest the least expensive approach for Molly, who had been throwing up for the past 12 hours. He came back out in the waiting room after the appointment to review the medicine again and address any other questions. We also have to mention Dr. Bowden the other vet who often have seen our animals. She also is a lovely, intelligent and kind person.
They have earned our trust and business. We highly recommend them for your pets.

We just brought home a Miniature Dachshund (10 weeks old) over the weekend and we took him in to Lincoln Avenue clinic. They were exceptional in their service. Our appointment was at 11:00am and we were taken in exactly at 11:00AM. Our dog was a little scared (mainly due to a new place, new people, and a whole new environment in general) but Dr. Bowden was amazing. She made sure the dog was comfortable with her. He whined and howled a little bit when the technician came in to help, but Dr. Bowden calmed him down and made sure he was well behaved. She taught us a few tricks into getting the dog socialized. She answered all the questions we had. We had a great time and are looking forward to the next visit. Rest assured, we know our pet is in good hands!

Dr. Chiarello and Nagle are great. Dr. C has a strong background in oncology, which has proven very helpful. They are fair and reasonable with their charges and they are honest and helpful, too. Dr. Nagle has gone out of his way to help me find backordered meds for my dog, more than any other vet we've seen was willing to do! I trust them implicitly with my pets.

We've been going to LAVC for about 6 years- The first time we went was because we had a very sick rat that needed to go to rat heaven. They were so kind -we even got a sympathy card signed by the whole staff! I was so impressed, i suggested my son switch vets for his rat terriers, which he did and is very satisfied. It was even cheaper than than they thought and they did not repeat tests unnecessarily. I just got a new puppy today and plan on calling tomorrow for an appointment!

We love Dr. Chiarello! She's terrific with our dog and always provides great care.

We have been taking our cats there for years. The front desk folks have been very helpful and friendly. The Drs. are very knowledgeable and professional.

We have been with LAVC for over 20 years. I have taken my own Vizslas and rescue V's there -some 6-8 dogs and LAVC has been incredibly helpful and compassionate. Dr. Chiarello takes her time to asnwer all questions- I never feel rushed. I have foudn the same to be true of Dr Nagel. Recently our 14 female had surgery and we were warned the two lump removals may lead to some disfiguration. We were thrilled to find she looks wonderful-both areas healed beatifully. Dr. Chiarello did an amazing job and the follow up was very thorough . The only complaint is that the office could use some 'freshening up'.

My husband and I adopted a two-year old golden retriever mix last week, so we took her here for a check-up based on the clinic's positive rating.

I'm giving this clinic five stars based on the wonderful treatment we got from Dr. Chiarello. The doctor spent almost an entire hour with us, answering the many, many questions we had about our dog and dog ownership in general. She was patient with us (annoying new "parents") and loving towards our somewhat anxious pup.

Dr. Chiarello performed a general check-up, prescribed some medicine for our dog's cough and some pepcid to settle her stomach, did a heart worm test, and showed us how to clip her nails. The total (for over an hour of one-on-one attention with the help of several assistants) was $130. Well worth it, in my opinion.

Though the clinic is close to home, I wish it wasn't so close to I-280 (noisy and not particularly inviting on the outside). Still, we'll definitely be taking Piper back to visit Dr. Chiarello!
